Lighting is one of my favorite elements to add to a space. It can transform a room beyond what furniture and accessories can do. Lighting sets the stage for the design elements and style for your entire home. One of my favorite areas in the home to select lighting for is the entryway. This is that bonus space in your home to feature a showpiece light fixture in addition to your kitchen or dining area.
Light fixtures for entryways can also pose design challenges. You want to make sure they are cohesive with the architecture of your home and the rest of your lighting selections. When selecting a fixture for this area the number one question I ask my clients is how much light do you need in the space. Nothing worse than falling in love with a light that will not put out enough light.
If you need a fixture that produces bright light, often needed for an entry space, I look for features like exposed bulbs, clear glass, and the wattage for the bulbs the fixture takes.
