The Spring 2018 One Room Challenge is here!
I am so excited to be participating in my second challenge. In case you missed it, for the Fall 2017 challenge I completed the nursery for my first baby boy. The experience was unforgettable. It opened the door to an amazing opportunity that I cannot wait to share! Participating in the challenge connected me with so many talented designers and a welcoming community.
If this is your first time visiting, hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Kaitlyn and founder of Beebout Design. I launched Beebout Design and the blog about a year ago, and what a year it has been. I recently had my first baby and are now navigating new motherhood while running my own business. I take my passion for design and transform spaces that bring in life through mixing vintage and modern design elements no matter the budget. I believe that everyone deserves the home of their dreams. You can see some of my past work here.
The Room
For this season’s event I will be updating our laundry and mudroom. At first I originally planned to skip this round due to our new little baby boy, but I could not resist after seeing all the announcements. The feeling you have from a fully finished, designed, and styled room in your home is too good to pass up. It’s not everyday you get to be your own client. The work horse of a room in our home will get the love it deserves to be fully functional and pretty to boot. We need to support our new family needs now that we are doing at least one load of laundry a day. What is it with babies and laundry? 🙂
The laundry and mudroom space in its current state is fine and most people would probably be happy with how it is. Function and design wise there is a lot that could be improved.
The Inspiration
Every room needs one wow factor. It is often where I start with my room designs. With my last One Room Challenge the wallpaper was the clear star. In the laundry room my focus is on the floors. Smaller spaces like bathrooms and laundry rooms are the perfect spot to add a bold feature tile. Here are some of the images I am drawn to for the flooring:

I just cant quit with the wall coverings so I will be incorporating some vertical paneling to a few accent ares in the two spaces. I’m really drawn lately to dark cabinets and walls like this from Amber Interiors:

Check back next week for a reveal of the design plan and materials. Until then, visit the new One Room Challenge site to see the featured designers and other guest participants like myself.

My goodness this is going to be good! Your laundry room is great as-is of course, but with those floors as inspiration…swoon. Can’t wait to see this room take shape! I’ll be rooting you on!
